The solution: Transitioning to Maintenance Manager

Burdened with an over-engineered and costly CMMS platform, Scott Kaminski, Mankato Area Public Schools’ Director of Facilities, reached out to Siemens to explore asset management platforms that would better align with the district’s operational needs, workforce and budget.

Working with the Siemens team, Kaminski was introduced to Maintenance Manager, a streamlined, agile solution designed to provide the core functionality his facilities team needed without the administrative hurdles.

The transition to Maintenance Manager allowed Kaminski and his team to start fresh, clearing out legacy data and setting up a clean foundation for work orders. Teachers and staff can now easily submit requests through a simplified portal, routing directly to the appropriate head custodian or maintenance worker.

As Kaminski noted regarding Maintenance Manager’s interface, “It’s cool, it’s clean, it’s neat, it’s organized. It’s easy to use.”

Looking forward

Mankato Area Public Schools recently launched Maintenance Manager across the district right as the school year began. With the core work order process running smoothly, Kaminski and his team are planning their next phases.

Over the coming months, the district intends to systematically rebuild and tag their asset inventory — focusing on critical equipment like boilers and HVAC units— and progressively integrating preventive maintenance schedules.

By pairing a simple, intuitive work order tool with a supportive partnership, Mankato Area Public Schools has established a sustainable foundation for facility operations that respects taxpayer dollars and keeps technicians focused on what matters most: keeping schools safe and running for students.
